ARIPAN

Agriculture & Public Data

Corridor — National Agricultural Market Intelligence

A full-stack market intelligence platform that owns its own price history — daily ingestion, multi-year queryable data, weather correlation, and a tenant-ready application layer.

01

The challenge

India's official mandi price data is published through a public API that reliably serves only recent records and is frequently slow or unavailable. Without history there is no trend, no comparison, no alerting — and no way for a trader, an FPO, or a policy team to answer whether a price is normal for this crop, in this market, at this time of year.

02

What Aripan built

  • Two ingestion pipelines on a daily schedule: one snapshotting the official variety-wise daily price and arrivals dataset into a TimescaleDB hypertable; the other pulling Open-Meteo / ERA5 daily weather onto a 0.1° grid keyed to every mandi, plus climate normals.
  • A geospatial drill-down from state to district to individual mandi over India TopoJSON boundaries, working identically for price and rainfall, with trend charts that overlay rainfall behind prices.
  • A production application surface: multi-tenant accounts with memberships, invitations, API keys, and entitlement scopes; watchlists; configurable price alerts with a digest scheduler; an operator console with an audit trail; and public SEO pages.
  • A Risk Desk and Trends workbench for comparative analysis across commodities, markets, and seasons. A companion price-forecasting system is in active development.

Outcome

A working national-scale data product: daily ingestion, queryable multi-year history, weather correlation, and a tenant-ready application layer — roughly 215 source files across ingestion, API, geospatial frontend, and operations tooling.
