Cloud Transformation

Enterprise Multi-Cloud Landing Zone

A governed cloud foundation delivered as executable Terraform — multi-account structure, guardrails, DR, and an observability strategy — with the governance and evidence to run it.

01

The challenge

An enterprise embarking on large-scale cloud adoption needed a governed foundation before workloads landed: multi-account structure, guardrails, network segmentation, identity, DR, and an observability strategy that would not collapse under volume once hundreds of services were live. The organisation also had an active AIOps tooling decision to make and needed the evidence to make it.

What Aripan built

  • A full Landing Zone plan and low-level design on AWS Control Tower with Account Factory for Terraform — multi-account strategy, network architecture, security and compliance, multi-region DR, a security data lake, FinOps, and developer self-service — scoped honestly at 22–26 weeks and 6–8 people after architectural review.
  • A working Terraform prototype repository: primitive and composition modules, Service Control Policies, tag and backup policies, OPA/Conftest rules, AFT account requests, per-account live configuration, and GitHub Actions CI/CD using OIDC rather than long-lived credentials.
  • A dedicated test strategy for the landing zone and the observability programme — a discipline rarely applied to infrastructure code.
  • An enterprise observability strategy framework from an SRE-architect perspective, with a capability assessment of AI-assisted operations tooling for the leadership decision, plus a parallel GCP landing zone workstream.

Outcome

The client received a governed cloud foundation as executable Terraform plus the governance, testing, and decision documentation to run it — not a slide deck. Guardrails, policies, and evidence requirements were defined before the first workload account was provisioned.

Architecture decision records, runbooks, and evidence artefacts as first-class contents
